Ruby & Joshua’s Wedding at Paradisus Playa del Carmen
Ruby and Joshua were married on July 11 in a beautiful destination wedding at Paradisus Playa del Carmen.
Ruby was born in the Philippines and moved to New Jersey when she was 9 years old. Josh was born and raised in New Jersey, and the two of them met up during happy hour at a local TGI Friday’s. They were both in other relationships at the time, but they kept running into each other, and a year later, when they were both single again, Joshua asked if she would go to get ice cream with him, and the romance officially begun!
Last year, Josh proposed to Ruby on Labor Day weekend. He asked her to marry him but said that he couldn’t afford the engagement ring. Instead, he suggested a tattoo on ring fingers instead, and she didn’t like that idea at all! Thinking it was all a joke, she said no, but as it dawned on her that this might be a real proposal (after 20 minutes of him trying to get her to agree to the tattoos), she burst into tears! That’s when he took the real ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee for the actual proposal and all was forgiven!
On the day of the wedding, there was a real atmosphere of friendship, family, and love. While Ruby was getting ready, we loved that she was toasting all her bridesmaids and her mother with tequila and champagne. Ruby’s cousin, Joanne Marie Gimena, sang as Ruby walked down the aisle—what an incredible moment!
It was amazing to see how many people had traveled for the wedding. There were so many friends and family from so many different countries—but all of them came together to dance their feet off!
To end the day, the wedding party decided at the last minute to jump into the pool with their bridal outfits after the reception ended. It was the perfect spontaneous moment that we look for in all of our weddings.
Thank you, Joshua & Ruby, for allowing us to be part of this exciting time in your lives. Your destination wedding was as beautiful as the people who came to celebrate it with you. Congratulations, you two!
