Tamara & Christopher’s Underwater Photos In Playa Del Carmen
Not a day goes by without us realising how incredibly blessed we are to call “home” this beautiful paradise that is the Caribbean. We are fans of all of the locations we work at, as each has their own magic: Costa Rica with its amazing volcanic beaches and waterfalls, Dominican Republic and its paradisiacal mangroves & fun bachata vibe… Meanwhile, here in Mexico’s Riviera Maya, we are crazy about the Cenotes! Taking underwater photos Playa del Carmen is a full-day excursion experience for our WeddingDayStory brides and grooms, and one of the preferred types of shoots for our team of photographers. Every time an adventurous bride signs up for a trash the dress our photographers know they are in for a great time! Plus, we get the chance to show our friends around the stunning natural locations we know best, which make loving the Riviera Maya easier than ever for them.
We were honoured when Tamara & Christopher chose us to take their underwater photos in Playa del Carmen, and we asked a lot of questions so that we could get to know them a little better. They grew up in Jackson, New Jersey but they now live in Barnegat, just 25 miles away, where she works as a dental hygienist and he is in law enforcement.
We wanted to know about their proposal story…
T&C: We did things a little untraditional! Fell in love, had a baby, bought a house, got married in a small ceremony with just our parents. We celebrated with a large barbecue with all our friends and family, and then he had our son give me my ring. Total surprise!
Wedding Day Story: We knew right away they were our favourite type of people, a natural, laid-back couple, not worried about fitting the mould… they are crazy about each other and are ready to celebrate the effortlessly natural life they shared by taking on a little adventure with some underwater photos in Playa del Carmen!
Why did you decide to have a Trash The Dress session in the Riviera Maya?
T: We wanted to have beautiful photos taken and why not in gorgeous Playa del Carmen, Mexico! The hotel we were staying at hooked me up with the Wedding Day Story family and I fell in love with your work.
Did you have any concerns before having your underwater photos Playa del Carmen?
T: Mine was swimming long under water, I failed! Handling the dress in the water was a bit tricky as well, but I loved both the experience and the locations. We had a great time at the beach and cenote!
Wedding Day Story: Swimming and holding one’s breath underwater can be quite of a challenge for our clients when doing underwater photos Playa del Carmen, since most people are just not used to it… However, Tamara did a great job, and we are sure it was a memorable experience regardless!
What did you like best about having underwater photos Playa del Carmen?
T: The fish swimming near our feet at the cenote… We are in love with Mexico’s beaches as well. It was hot, but we had a great time!
How did you decide you were going to “Trash” your wedding dress? Was it an easy decision for you?
T: Absolutely. It’s the trending thing now, and I thought.. what else am I going to do with my dress afterwards? I got beautiful pictures out of it, so it was totally worth it… Plus it’s not really actually “trashed”… it can still be worn again!
Do you any recommendations for other couples who are planning on having underwater photos in Playa del Carmen?
T: I liked the strong sunshine, but it was quite hard on our eyes… so if you think the same can happen to you, maybe consider sunset photo sessions at dusk!
Thank you Tamara and Christopher for becoming part of the Wedding Day Story Family!
