Treat Others As You Want To Be Treated
“I grew up in London, Ontario and lived there my whole life up until I met my future husband, John. John grew up in Brampton, Ontario, just outside of Toronto Ontario. He also spent a few years in Vancouver, BC Canada as a young adult before making his way back to Brampton. Shortly after that, him and I met through a mutual friend. One of the most important, and well-known values that we learned growing up was to “always treat someone the way you would want to be treated” and to always be there for your family. Some other very important values instilled in us was to be kind to others, have good manners, honest and loyalty.”
My Best Friend’s Birthday Party
“John and I met through a mutual friend of ours who lived in my hometown. John was visiting him and we all ended up out together for my best friend’s birthday party.”
A Wakeboard Proposal
“John and I went to Florida to visit his father as he lives there 6 months out of the year. It was March 9, 2015 when him and I had planned a trip to Orlando for a day or two which was about 2 hours from where his Dad lives. So, on our way we went to the water sports park in Orlando. We like to wakeboard together and that’s exactly what we were doing when John proposed. On the water, wakeboarding side-by-side when he pulled the ring out of his bathing suit shorts. It wasn’t the “real” ring thankfully. He left that on land in a safe place. We were lucky enough to have the proposal captured on video as he had the GoPro camera attached to his helmet at the time. It was absolutely romantic and unforgettable. We spent the rest of the day celebrating at Downtown Disney, just the two of us.”
We Love You Ocean!
“We chose a destination wedding because we both love the ocean and always knew we wanted to get married on a beach alongside a beautiful ocean. We also love Mexico so it couldn’t have been any better.”
“Having our parents and closest friends at our wedding was most important to us. We were beyond happy to end up with 41 of us in our group. Our hearts were full. My mother and father, Paul and Louise Farrow, and John’s parents Cliff and Gail Isted are our biggest supporters and will always be appreciated.”
“Elizabeth Greer – she moved from Toronto Ontario, very close to me, to New York City in February of this year. We have an unbreakable bond. She came with her husband Jacob Greer and it was very special to have her there by my side. John’s father was his best man, which is also very special to us as he’s always been there for John no matter what. My sister was the only other family member of mine who attended the wedding and she was also one of my bridesmaids. Her name is Andrea Pedrech. Becky Russell is also like a sister to me. We’re soul mates and I know she’d say the same thing. John’s best friend and groomsmen, Joel White, was the friend who we met through. He introduced us and he’s the reason why we ended up together. Sarah Burroughs is an amazing friend of mine, one of John’s first friends I was introduced to alongside Darren Burroughs, who is one of John’s childhood friends. Tom Evelyn, also being one of John’s childhood friends is one of the most loyal to John and the type of person who will John’s friend til the end of time.”
“It’s hard to pick just one memorable moment on our wedding day as the whole thing was just flawless.”
Our Playa del Carmen Wedding Photographer
“I love the attention to detail that our photographers had. They were wonderful at what they do and a lot of fun to work with. I can’t think of a better way to have the pictures available to us. It’s so great and easy to share with everyone and nice to be able to pull up pictures on our phone to share with people we’ve run into, other friends, co-workers, etc. My favorite picture from our wedding is our first kiss as husband and wife.”
Perfect Destination Wedding
“My main concern with planning a wedding away was not having any control. Although I had read such incredible reviews about Valentin and Ana Munoz, I still had my concerns with handing over all of the control and responsibility to someone who I had never met. Once we arrived and reviewed the wedding and all of our selections within an hour upon our arrival to the resort, I instantly felt relief. Do your research. If it’s at Valentin, then there’s nothing to worry about. You have to expect that not everyone that you want at your wedding will be able to make it, and be ok with it. Be grateful and happy with whomever can be there with you.”
“John’s step sister gave me the most special gift that I will treasure forever the morning of the wedding. Her mother (John’s stepmom) passed away just over two years ago and I was given an antique ring of hers that my bridesmaids attached to my bouquet. It just so happened to have a blue stone in it as well so it was my “something old and something blue”. My maid of honour had a diamond bracelet of hers as my “something borrowed” but we forgot to actually put it on the day of.”
Aqua & Pink
“I wore sandals with silver bows from INC International. A Maggie Sottero wedding gown purchased in Mississauga Ontario at Sophie’s Gown Shoppe which I was so in love with and I loved the way it looked on the sand. It suited our day just perfectly. I chose pink orchids for my bouquet. My bridesmaid is a make-up artist and stylist so she did this for me and I requested an orchid from my bouquet for my hair. Perfect match! My bridesmaids dresses were purchased locally where I live and they are by Alfred Angelo, Spring 2016 collection in “aqua”. The groomsmen wore Nautica linen pants with white button up shirts with Adidas shell toes in aqua to match the bridesmaids dresses.”
Details For Perfection
“We put together our own custom invitations. We purchased a digital file through Etsy and got them printed locally. We made our own centrepieces for our 4 guest tables. We also made our own placecards for the tables, brought our own guest book, and a friend of ours purchased a cake topper from there which was a small calavera bride and groom. We also bought our own envelopes and wax stamp. We loved the Mexican Trio who played at our cocktail hour. They stood out. That made the cocktail hour that much more enjoyable. We pretty much selected all of the music and forwarded a big list for the DJ. We didn’t even get halfway through the list. Our first dance song was All of me by John Legend. We would always sing this song to each other when we heard it on the radio and we were able to connect with the lyrics like I’m sure many couples do. It’s our song :)”
