What do you recommend for planning a wedding far from the location of the wedding?
You must find and work closely with a wedding travel professional. Anyone can book a trip. A wedding travel professional will help determine the right destination and resort based on your specific needs. Not all resorts are created equal.
Any tips or tricks that you would recommend to brides and grooms?
First, try not to get hung up on the destination. When you’re looking out at the ocean, can you tell whether you’re in Mexico, Jamaica, Punta Cana, or Florida? No. Focus on the resort and what it offers. Second, remember that choosing the resort is the hardest part. After that, it gets easier.
Why do you love destination weddings?
Destination weddings are the perfect way for couples to unite their families and create memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Can you share a moment or a story of your favorite wedding that you helped plan?
Each wedding has its own unique moments and story. It is hard to pick just one! There are two moments that I love during the wedding process. First is when I learn which resort the couple has chosen. It is so exciting! Second is when I start seeing photos appear on Facebook. Everyone always looks so happy. I love being part of the celebration!
Some of my favorite wedding planning moments are the rare times that I get to meet my bride and groom and their guests in person at the resort. It doesn’t happen often because I have found that it is better for me to be in my office while groups are traveling so I can assist if any issues arise. But there are occasions when I am traveling during the same time a wedding is planned and the stars line up and I get to meet the bride and groom in person. Those moments are priceless. Genuine appreciation, joy, and love resonate from the couple and their loved ones. It makes me feel truly blessed to play a small role in their wedding experience.
