The WeddingDayStory Family was honored to be part of yet another gorgeous Valentin Imperial Maya celebration under the sun with an amazing couple: Yonathan and Liane. When it comes to Riviera Maya wedding Photography venues and considering the many different ones where we shoot, this hotel is one of our favorites!

The groom was born in one of our favorite paradises on earth, Dominican Republic, and moved to Queens when he wa only 7 years old. Liane, a city girl, grew up in New York. Some of the most important values that their parents have taught them are about hard work, trying to progress in life, the importance of family and always keeping their word. They were raised with the belief that whatever they chose to do in life, they had to put all their efforts into it, always giving 100%.

Luckily enough, they found each other one day on a subway platform in New York City. Liane was going home from work, waiting for the train to come. Yonathan, a police officer, was working undercover at that train station. They were standing next to each other, and he began a conversation. Being that he was undercover, he looked a bit messy…. So he shared about his job and continued to engage in small talk with Liane until the train came. She didn’t give him her phone number, but told him her full name… and, just as detective would, he found her online! They began getting to know each other right after that.

He proposed while they were on vacation in Dominican Republic. He had been leaving random sweet cards every day since their anniversary, hidden in different spots of their apartment. On their last day at the resort where they were staying, he had booked a couples’ photo session during sunrise, as many couples were. During the photo session, two men approached them with guitars and began singing. He then gave Liane the 25th card -as it was the 25th day-. A man appeared, all of a sudden, in a horse (Liane loves horses) with a sign that said “Will you Marry Me”? Liane realized right away that the card she was holding in her hands had the same question on it… and Yonathan gave her a beautiful ring. How is that for perfect romance?

We asked them what made them choose a destination wedding, and they said that they wanted this to be an experience for everyone to remember. Their loved ones were able to enjoy the beautiful resort and their trip to Mexico, all while sharing this naturally romantic celebration and having fun being part of the couple’s Riviera Maya Wedding Photography gallery! Everyone had an amazing time. Yonathan’s favorite part was watching Liane walking down the aisle, and her favorite part was exchanging vows during the ceremony.

They were so very grateful for all the guests that joined them on this big day. It wasn’t easy for everyone to assist, but they made it happen. His immediate family, specifically his father David, Elsida (mother),and Margarita (stepmother). Her parents, mother Lory, father Victor, stepmother Cathy. His 3 brothers and 1 sister who was there and her 3 sisters and one brother.

The bride’s mother helped her with her dress… It was a bit stressful, because they were running late, but still, it was a very special moment they could share. The father-daughter dance was memorable – Liane’s dad made jokes and they laughed together, sharing one of the happiest times in his daughter’s life.

Two moments during the reception that they loved the most were when Liane’s long time friend surprised everyone by singing a song after the speech, and then later in the reception, when the guests really started to let lose by dancing in the fountains! No one cared about getting wet or messy, everyone was just having a blast.

These are the comments they shared about their Riviera Maya Wedding Photography with WeddingDayStory, and the rest of the vendors that were part of their big day:

I loved the online gallery that was available and the prints I ordered came out perfect! Everyone has always been super friendly with me in emails and accommodating. The DJ company that the Valentin Imperial Maya uses was wonderful! They kept our party flowing nicely the entire reception and everyone danced a lot! Our photo booth was with The Photo Booth Mayan Riviera. Everything else was done by the resort – and they couldn’t have done anything more to make my day as memorable as it was. -Liane
