What kind of Pnina Tornai beach wedding dress is most popular among Pnina Brides who choose to have a destination wedding abroad?
Many Pnina Brides choose to get married in the most beautiful tropical locations, as well as European destinations such as Italy and France. For those who are getting married on or near a beach, the trend is to wear a fitted dress in a silk charmeuse, stretch satin fabric, or lace with a low back or plunging neckline. Another popular silhouette is a corset top with a flowy chiffon skirt that dances in the wind. Brides getting married on a beach often want an effortless, yet sexy and romantic look. Also, don’t forget that a slim silhouette is much easier to travel with and is much more comfortable for warm weather. For my brides getting married in the countrysides of France and Italy, the most popular gowns have a vintage look to them and are made of the richest European laces with beautiful trains and intricate bead work. A stunning mermaid gown with a lace trimmed train and long, cathedral veil is my favorite look for a European venue.
Do you have any accessory details and recommendations that specific for beach weddings?
For a beach wedding, I think a fitted dress or one with a chiffon skirt is the best option. You want it to be easy to move on the sand and for your dress to be lightweight. Lace is a great fabric to travel with because it is the least likely to wrinkle when transporting the dress from one place to the next. As far as accessories go, I think a veil blowing in the beach breeze is absolutely stunning! Another beautiful and romantic look is to have a comb of flowers in your hair, or a beautiful crystal halo to accent an amazing updo! Nothing is more beautiful as when the sunlight catches the crystal accents of your earrings, hair accessories, and dress if you choose a beaded style. My latest collection, Wind Upon Water, is actually inspired by the beautiful beaches of Thailand and feature pearl accents, slim silhouettes with water crystal embroidery, and low backs to die for! I definitely recommend any of those gowns for my beach brides.
What kinds of hair styles best complement each of the looks you would recommend beach brides?
For the beach, I typically recommend either a loose, romantic chignon, or if you would like to wear your hair down, to do a half-up half-down style. Because the beach is often breezy, it is good to have some, if not all, of your hair away from your face so that your pictures come out gorgeous! Also, nothing is worse than having your hair stuck in your lip gloss when you are about to say I do! I also recommend looking on Instagram for hair inspiration. I always post pictures that my brides send me at @pninatornai so that brides can curate the looks that they like the best and show their hairstylist their ideas. Never be afraid to ask the pros what they think! Chances are that your hairstylist has helped some beach brides with their wedding day look and have great recommendations.
What are the wedding fashion trends for 2016?
For 2016, one of the top trends are detachable skirts and overskirts. So many brides want two looks for their wedding day, but they don’t want two dresses! A half overskirt would actually be perfect for the beach bride who wants the fullness of a ballgown but wants to be able to walk on the beach without difficulty. Another trend is tone on tone beading. Brides want to move away from silver beading in favor of a more subtle sparkle, like the clear water crystals that I used in my collection this year. One trend that is a constant, however, is that you need to LOVE your dress! If you want to wear a ballgown on the beach, go for it girl! You only get to do it once.
