Melanie & Michael’s Costa Rica Wedding Photographers

What do you need to have the perfect wedding? After all these years as Costa Rica wedding photographers, we learned that every couple needs different things. Some need a big wedding with lots of guests and details, while others prefer to elope. And they are all truly happy with what they choose, because it’s their personalities that shine trough. Melanie & Michael knew that they wanted a natural beach wedding since they saw another couple getting married at RIU Guanacaste, during their first trip together.

Our Role Models

“Michael was born in New Mexico but grew up near Wichita, Kansas. I (Melanie) grew up in the Chicago suburbs. Two big role models for me and Michael since he met them were my grandparents who were so in love and my grandfather spent his whole life calling my grandma his girlfriend with a lot of pride.”

Really Good Friends

“We met through one of my good friends who invited Michael to hang out with us. She thought he was cute after meeting him at a pickup football game. I was actually initially hoping she would date him because I hit it off with him and was thinking he would be my new best friend. The night after meeting and the next day Michael and I were texting a lot. I am really oblivious and did not get that he was flirting until he said something a bit more flirtatious.

I immediately called my friend to make sure she wasn’t interested because I had a hunch he was going to ask me out.

She was completely ok with it and I said yes when Michael asked me out later that day. And My friend and I are still really good friends!”

The Mystery Sign

“Michael scheduled us to take professional “family photos” with our dogs. Towards the end of the photo session, Michael brought out a wrapped gift. He had me open it and revealed a wooden sign that he had me hold with the sign facing away from me so I could not see what it said. After a few photos holding the mystery sign, Michael got down on one knee and our proposal was captured on camera.”

A RIU Guanacaste Wedding

“Michael and I went to Costa Rica early on in our relationship and when we saw a wedding at the Riu Guanacaste resort we decided if our relationship continued, that is what we would do and what we did! Our favorite part was the reveal.

I was very determined to not have Michael see me in my dress or even see the dress before then and I think it was worth the wait!”

Celebrating Marriage

“Michael’s Mom, Shannan, and his mom’s fiancé Dean, and my best friend who has taken on the role of a big sister to me, Erin, were in attendance. It means a lot to us that we had guests who were able to take the time and make a big trip to celebrate our marriage.”

Costa Rica Wedding Photographers

“Our photographer Cande was absolutely amazing. She was willing to roll in the sand, climb trees, and even tore her pants trying to get us the best shots possible. She was amazing and we actually think the whole photo shoot might have been one of the best parts of our wedding days.

She made us feel special.

It is hard to pick one photo! We loved our Costa Rica wedding photographers and the pictures with the sunset behind us.”

The Sweet Staff

“Although we can’t remember everyone’s name, the entire staff was extremely sweet in making our day special. Including the maids, who everyday after our wedding used my bouquet to make beautiful towel and flower art on our bed every night!”

Destination Weddings Are The Way To Go

“I picked a destination wedding because it helped me take away anxiety of planning a wedding. Destination weddings are the way to go in my opinion. Instead of having a wedding memory of one day we have a wedding memory of a full week in paradise.”

Love, Joy, Memorable

“Our first dance was to Thomas Rhett’s “Die a Happy Man”. I was looking for a song that made me think of Michael and he turned me on to country music which I never use to like. I started crying (in a good way) when I was listening to “Die a Happy Man” and knew it was our song.”

We loved capturing Melanie & Michael’s beautiful, intimate ceremony. We could see and feel the love between them and know this was just the beginning of many years of happiness together.
