Cydnee & Cristian’s Costa Rica Destination Wedding
Most of the destination wedding couples have the same concerns before the wedding. Would my wedding look as I envision it? Even if I can’t be there to choose personally? Would the wedding planner understand what I want via email? The answer to these questions is always YES! Couples end up falling in love with their wedding location and sometimes they think that it turned up even better than what they had in mind. Cydnee & Cristian had this same feeling about their Costa Rica destination wedding and we wanted to share their beautiful celebration in the sun!
Treat Others With Kindness And Respect
“I grew up in East Texas with my mom and sister. Cristian was born in Romania then moved to Canada until middle school where he moved to Spring, Texas with his family. We both have strong family values and were taught the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.”
“We met through my mother’s fiancee. They work together and decided we should meet. My mom planned it out to where we would both be at the same party. I almost did not go but she talked me into it. Glad she did!”
A “House Selling Party”
“Cristian had just sold his home and decided to throw a “house selling party”. He invited our friends and family to dinner to celebrate. We had reservations for everyone at a restaurant in city center where we had our first date. I did not think anything of it. Apparently everyone but me was informed he would be proposing after dinner. Halfway through my grilled cheese, he decided to make a speech thanking everyone for coming and how excited he was about selling his house. That lead him into the real reason we were there. He got down on one knee in front of our family and friends and asked me to marry him.”
Costa Rica Destination Wedding
“A destination wedding sounded a lot less stressful than a regular wedding. We love to travel and thought Costa Rica would be the perfect backdrop for our perfect day. My favorite part of the day was right after we were announced husband and wife and got to mingle with friends and family. I couldn’t stop smiling. It felt so perfect. The reception was a close second! We had a blast!”
Family & Friends
“My mom, dad, and three of my sisters were able to attend. My grandma was able to make it and we have such a great relationship. I had two close friends and a cousin attend and be by my side with my sisters as bridesmaids. Cristian had his dad (who married us), his mom, brother, sister in law and nephew attend. His nephew was the most adorable ring bearer. He also had four friends attend and accompany his brother as his groomsmen. In total, we had 34 people attend the wedding. Cristian’s father is a priest and performed the ceremony.”
Laughing The Way Down To The Aisle
“As I was going to walk down the aisle, my mom asked me where my veil was. I forgot it in the room! It added some comic relief to the moment. I laughed about it the whole way down the aisle.”
“The WeddingDayStory photographers were amazing. The were so professional and thorough. They made sure they got the most important moments of our Costa Rica destination wedding. I could not have been more pleased with how they turned out. Having the gallery to view all the images was great, The worst part was having to decide which ones I was going to keep. I wanted them all. “The kiss” is my favorite picture from the wedding. It captures us in that moment so faultlessly. There was pure joy in that moment and I am so happy they were able to capture it.”
“Susan Hernandez, the wedding coordinator at Riu Palace was great. She made everything come together seamlessly and more perfect than I could have imagined on our Costa Rica destination wedding.”
Epic! And Beautiful
“I was a nervous wreck honestly in the weeks leading up to the wedding. I knew Costa Rica was beautiful but we were going during the rainy season and in the midst of the Zika Virus concerns. I imagined all of the possibilities of what could go wrong. I had read stories of people unhappy with there experience and had worked up a bit of anxiety. The planning was all done via email which was scary. It is hard communicating exactly what you want without seeing things in person. My main concern was getting there and nothing looking how I had imagined it. I used pictures to show the coordinator what I wanted. My concerns were still there once I got there, but we started having too much fun for me to even care. Turns out my concerns were for no reason, because everything was even better than I had hoped.”
Destination Wedding Advice
“Research the location. Know what to expect. Plan activities besides the wedding for everyone to hang out and explore the destination. Relax and have fun. At the end of it you will be married, and that’s all that matters.”
“My garter had a blue bow. My dad bought me a beautiful bracelet as my something new. My grandma let me borrow a necklace. Our first dance was to Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. Every time this song would come on, we would turn it up and sing to each other. It was the first song we both decided on. There wasn’t even another option. My wedding gown was from Brockhouse Bridal and the bridesmaids dresses from Show Me Your Mumu.”
Thank you so much Cydnee & Cristian for sharing your beautiful story. We wish you all the best!
